her name. continued.

right after eliza was born i wrote a post about her name. well, this morning i get a phone call from aunt steph. they recently went and visited (great) aunt mary and my dad's cousin barb and family in tulsa.

while there steph learned that eliza is actually a family name on my dad's side.

i'm not sure i have the dates right but the first occurrence was eliza turner who was born in ireland in 1845. turner is my great-grandma's maiden name. (right?!)

then we learned that my dad's (great) aunt jess' middle name was eliza. when she was born her parents asked her two sisters (one being my great grandma) what they wanted to name her. one said jesse and the other said eliza.

i have heard a lot of stories about aunt jess. the peonies in her yard, her long hair, how small she was (ma said size 4 feet!) and of course about "the ponderosa" (a house my dad rented, it's such a cute house! right down the road from where i grew up)

i was so excited to hear all this. now i just love her name even more. have to add this info to her baby book. even if that's not why i picked her name, she'll definitely hear the same stories!

i love family history.

five.

things she likes...
rolling over back to tummy...all.day.long.
sucking her thumb. more than just at night now.
her pink bunny.
toys. rattles.
rice and oatmeal cereal.
sleeping on her belly.
wagon rides.
talking. a lot.
blowing raspberries.
smacking her lips.
magglio.
her fisher price seahorse that plays lullabies. she finally notices it.
sleeping. still.

we slowed down a bit this month. not much excitement. she didn't slow down at all. we spent most of our days at home. a lot of the time was spent rolling her back over once she rolled to her tummy. just in the last few days though she's been happy to be on her belly. she went to her first superbowl party. too bad daddy's team lost. i made a onesie for her because she can't be all colts. she's a hybrid. she has become a lot more interested in maggs too. she grabbed his ear the other day, pants at him, and tries to kiss him back. wish he was going to be in korea with us. i know they'd be best friends!

rice cereal.

a video from a few weeks ago. she's only had cereal a couple times. it was stopping her up and i quit to try and get things moving. now she stares at us anytime we eat. she loves it ! this was one of the first times she had it. she got the hang of it and started to devour the cereal. eventually she'll get some more stuff, but for now we're doing good with nursing.
and we have to thank (great) aunt steph for our antique highchair. we love it!
